I'm finally done with this one... Ugh.... I'm not sure where to start actually....
I read most of it in December. Then I paused to read something else and... I didn't pick it up until I saw it again on my night table. I forgot most of what had happened in the first 300 pages by the time I picked it up again, which says a lot about how unremarkable all of it was.
I lost most of the interest I had left after Book 2 when Emilia sucked Wrath's dick on a gondola in the first chapter just after 1) finding out her sister was alive 2) that she was a goddess(?) 3) a murder had been committed at Greed's.
There was less lust and sex, thank goodness, but it had happened so much, so often, that it still made the entire plot and character development seem to fall into the background. When Wrath and Emilia aren't in the same room, the book is fine.
I still liked the worldbuilding (main reason why it got 2 stars and not 1) but... I was so confused so often. The explanations and revelations were so...dull, uninspiring and confusing. I still don't think I understand what the Shifting Islands are and how the whole memory loss, curses, plethora of subplots, etc. all fit in together ... I thought Claudia had lost her mind? (Unless it was fixed and I forgot?) I don't understand how the princes knew about the Fury but had lost their memories or something....? A lot of the book felt like a first draft...
The first book had been so good and promising but the trilogy had finished on such a low note. It would have been so much better, in my opinion, if Maniscalco had kept the story with a enemy to lover, Wicked VS Witches story set in Sicilia than...whatever this was...
So, in conclusion, another disappointing and mediocre Young Adult/New Adult Fantasy series... 🥲
