An extremely well written book, showcasing not only the lives of refugees before fleeing their homes and during, but especially their lives after arriving in Canada. It's a raw look at a refugee's life, and while the book is technically fictional, it's really not. These events happened.

Kim Thuy has an interesting way of writing. Each page is its own note/memoir with themes and ideas planting the seed for the next page. Very lyrical and poetic way of writing.
