DNF @ 61%

Oooo chile I tried I tried I didn’t want to believe the rumors (reviews) but Lordy there was so much potential that I kept on going until I just decided to choose myself.

Things I loved..the island vibes hunni yes! Loved the cultural content, the audio really helps you get in the setting as both narrators have an accent (this may have also been apart of why I couldn’t connect), the magic system was really interesting and the cover is absolutely stunning!!!

Things I didn’t love…the narrators accents were heavy and that’s not a bad thing as the story takes place in the islands but if heavy accents are distracting I would not do this book via audio. I just feel at 61% I still had no idea what we were doing or where we were going or who the characters actually were! And it’s just obnoxious for my squirrel brain. The characters just blurred together and I couldn’t decipher who was who and the side characters just throwing names out left and right and I’m like wait a minute where are we? There wasn’t much for me to really grasp onto for me to keep going. And most of the reviews said it was a slow beginning and just not really connecting to the story and I so wanted them to be wrong but nope nope.
