The Road by Cormac McCarthy
3.0
A likable book, not a loveable book. The Road’s two main characters reminded me of the Joad family traveling westward to escape the dust bowl. The difference is that The Road has much less texture than Grapes of Wrath. The spectrum of emotion experienced through the book is narrow and remains bleak. I would recommend reading The Road. Its language is simple, and uncomplicated. It’s a fast read and is a compliment to the rapidly growing volume of dystopian fiction worth consuming.
