I honestly don't know whether to give this 3 or 4 stars. I'm tempted to give it only 3 because it was wayyyyy too long and felt so much like a filler book that it hurt, but then the beginning and the end were so good that I want to give it 4 stars. I loved the characters and world but coming off of book 1 and how good the investigation was in that, this one just felt a little flat and like it was trying to be an investigation book again but then forgot about the plot along the way. I feel like a traitor giving this 3 stars but I will say that the ending made me immediately pick up the next one and I'm currently enjoying that way more.
