Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain by Richard Roberts

5.0

Though it's more middle-grade, maybe, than young adult, I found this one of the funnest romps I've had in a while. I loved the characters; I loved the stories. The superhero world was fun and it grabbed me from the start. There was only a bit of disbelieving over a couple small things, and honestly most of it just slid off me. I devoured the book. The mild romance wasn't the chief thing; I loved the superpower of the main character.

I've already preordered the next book, which comes out soon. I can't wait.

Edit for rereads:

This is just such a fun read. Maybe not as good the second time around, but still fun, and especially so the first time around. I find Penny to be a very engaging narrator, and her friendships very real feeling. Certainly aspects of the book are over the top, and yet at the core this book, at least, I can totally buy into it all in the world they’re in. I love her parents, who are awesome. There are some really great lines in it, and it makes me want to mwahahaha and be a supervillain too.
