Blessings in Disguise by Nancy Mehl
3.0
Cheryl Cooper leaves her job in the big city after her fiance jilts her, and moves to the small Amish community of Sugarcreek to manage her aunt's gift shop while her aunt is out of the country on a mission. Cheryl makes friends among the Amish in town and becomes involved in a mystery of trying to find an abusive husband searching for his wife who has left him and is in hiding. The story line is mildly interesting, and this is typical Amish cozy mystery fare. Ultimately, everything turns out all right, the mystery is solved, and Cheryl makes friends and learns a lot about herself and God. The book is an uplifting and relaxing read. I most enjoyed the Amish proverbs sprinkled throughout the book, and the delicious cookie recipe at the end.
