Whispers of the Deep by Emma Hamm

5.0

I enjoy Emma's work but truly this story took me by surprise. I didn't know it would have me in such a chokehold. The story is beautiful, captivating, and comforting? Is that last bit weird to say? I certainly see myself re-reading this in the near future.

The world building and technology was refreshing. I've never read a monster romance before so this was a starling change for me. But I loved it!

At times the story was a bit repetitive (such as them realizing they couldn't understand each other, or how different they were, or how much larger he was, etc.) That is my only complaint if I can even call it one because if I was in either of the situation, I'd probably be thinking the same things over again too.

Mira was a wonderfully sharp intelligent character. She had this lightness about her that made me smile. Arges....how cool! I loved the way she described him, how big and powerful he was, how beautiful the scales were, etc. Emma has a beautiful way when describing her characters and the world they live in.

This is a slow burn romance so if you're looking for something quick and spicy this isn't it. But if you like a build up of tension then you'll be satisfied. Once the spice hits..... it's HOT!

I'm looking forward to the next one!!!
