The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
5.0
I just think Melissa Albert is a magnificent writer. I felt like every sentence had a purpose and a meaning. It wasn’t busy work or trying pages filled with basically empty space. Every sentence had purpose and meaning. This is a book I will enjoy re-reading.
Each page unfolds secrets and mysteries. Everything falls into place. You ask questions, and they are answered. Out of order, maybe, but nothing gets left behind. It’s dark and twisty and haunted. Reading it at night after everyone else had gone to sleep, and you have nothing but you, this book and a flashlight was especially fun.
I honestly don’t understand any of the negative reviews. I really don’t. This book deserves above a 4.0 rating. Every negative review on here is a big question mark to me. I’m wondering... did you read something else?? I’m confused. Hahaha.
My only qualm with this book is that I could have read it in a 3 part series, and still been hooked beginning to end. There’s a lot of adventuring and stories all in this one story. I’m incredibly excited for the next one - and for the book of Hinterland Tales!!!
Thank you Melissa, for your brain!
