Spider Bones by Kathy Reichs

3.0

It's Brennan vs. the draft dodging auto-erotic asphyxiation victim!

Our favorite anthropologist gets to do a little sleuthing from Hawaii. Since it's currently 6 degrees for me, I'm a bit jealous. I could do without the corpses she has to encounter, I suppose.

I can only assume that Reichs came across a weird case & wanted to include it in a book. Or perhaps it was a compilation of several weird cases. Either way, the method of death didn't really have anything to do w/ the rest of the story. Reichs managed to keep the boy drama to a minimum in this one, so that's a definite plus. We did get the "Brennan nearly gets killed" and "Brennan has several bizarre dreams that seem to have no purpose" required portions of the plot, though. To tell the truth, at this point I would be disappointed if they were left out & I couldn't complain about them. This one was better than some of the previous ones & I'd give it 3.5 stars.
