I just realized that I completely missed reviewing this. Well in one hand it's been a rather busy month but also it kind of speaks to my somewhat disappointment in this second installment of the series.
I just felt it was weaker in all regards to his predecessor. The humour, which I think is the main defining quality of the series, did not land as well and mostly my main gripe with this book was the new quest system that got introduced in this book. It just feld under developed and not very well thought out and honestly for a very light and fun read it just felt very unnecessarily confusing at times.
I hope this trend does not continue because I really enjoyed the first book and certainly will keep going with the series. Mainly because I still hugely enjoyed or main characters Carl and Donut and especially their interactions with each other. It was just everything surrounding them felt really meh in this book.
Edit after reread: Raising this by a full star! Man these books are so great on audio and I thouroughly enjoyed it! Yeah some of the quests still suck in this one, but the performance of Jeff Hayes just carries so much!
