The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
4.0
This book is nuts. Like crazy nuts. Homicidal maniac librarians rule the world, but can easily be conned into wearing tutus while waging war on the American military led by the animated decapitated head of the deceased (but not dead) president. I mean, really.
If you like Chuck Palahniuk and Jim Butcher - this book is for you. It's got the wild world building of Jim Butcher and the massive violence and "don't think too much about it"-edness of Palahniuk.
One thing I don't recommend - if you like the book, do not read the Goodreads Q&As from the author. I like to put my authors up on a pedestal, and some (Patrick Rothfuss) belong up there. This one has no problem kicking the pedestal away, pulling aside the curtain, and all sorts of other broken metaphorical terms for humanizing himself. If I could unread the Q&A's I would re-read the book.
Thanks to Ryan for the amazing suggestion. I may never read another book recommended by you again :)
