I gave this book a solid try but as the story progressed, I found myself less and less engaged. It seemed like despite the seemingly fast action-packed pace of the book, the story was progressing so slowly and nothing really was happening. The main characters each seemed very one-note to me without a lot of development happening (we get it, Amari, you miss Binta). Even though I made it through almost twelve hours of the book, I just couldn't imagine spending another six on it. Read the plot summary on Wikipedia and I gave no regrets. Shame, because the audiobook narrator really was excellent, and I had high hopes for this book.
