On Zionist Literature by Ghassan Kanafani

4.0

I've been wanting to read this for years so I'm thrilled that it's finally been translated into English. It's a book that is, in a way, a relic of its specific moment when it was originally authored. It has that inspiring revolutionary tone and language that feels very healing to read in the midst of Israel's genocide on Gaza. But it's also hard to read when considering that so many of the tropes that Kanafani lays out as features of Zionist literature are still so very present with us in society at large even today some fifty years later. Nevertheless, reading Kanafani is always a moving and enlightening experience.
