Boy Erased: A Memoir of Identity, Faith, and Family by Garrard Conley

sad slow-paced

2.0

I usually love a good memoir, but I didn't really enjoy this. The content was quite upsetting, as to be expected from a book about someone whose parents tried to cure him of his gayness, but I didn't feel much of a connection to the narrator. I feel like it is important to have these stories, to raise awareness of some of the horrors that LGBTQ+ people are exposed to, and for that I respect this work; I just didn't like it.
