This book left me feeling really warm and fuzzy, like watching your favourite chick flick.
We follow our FMC Fran who has moved to England from Italy to pursue her career as an actress. She is living in New Malden (which was really exciting for me to see as it’s just up the road) above Mr Son’s coffee shop. When his nephew Jae-Seung comes to visits and helps fix the sink on Fran’s flat, she is completely unaware that he is a K-Pop star and lead singer of his band. However she does come to discover this later when taking Mr Son’s daughter to a BTS concert, and his band is supporting them. Jae-Seung is really struggling with his mental health, which leads to him needing to escape, and Fran has the perfect place for that, her home town in Sicily.
Throughout this book we follow Fran and Jae-Seung whilst they both try to navigate their trauma, and their feelings for each other.
Whilst there are some very heavy topics covered in here I felt it was done well, I shed a few tears but overall the book left me feeling warm, everything you’d want from a chick flick in a book.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and it was a mostly lighthearted easy read, I also really enjoyed the multicultural aspect of this book, getting to see each characters culture, and travelling to see different areas.
