4.5 stars? Maybe 5.

I really really enjoyed this book. After reading a handful of horror stories that didn't quite creep me out enough, this was a delight. It was creepy and mysterious while still being quirky and odd and sweet.

The most brilliant part of this book is the narration. You are aware that the narrator is putting their own spin on events from the first few pages, but it takes a long time for you to find out who the narrator is and how they fit into the story. And that definitely kept everything much creepier. It was cool to know the narrator was watching everything and aware of where the killer was at all times, but it made it so much creepier to be uncertain of their background or motivations until the end. It also makes it for a much more interesting read when you are seeing things through the narrator's eyes and you can see how the story is colored by their perspective and feelings.

Really excellent horror story. Somewhat more quirky than terrifying, but definitely has it's creepy moments. Plus lots of gore. Highly recommended.
