Thirty, flirty and asexual Joy is in love with her best friend Malcolm. But Malcolm makes it clear that he’s in love with Summer. Along with the crew for this weekend trip is Summer’s ex, Fox.

The biggest part of this story was Joy and Fox pretending to like each other to make Malcolm jealous.

Maybe Joy felt that Malcolm hadn’t seen her with anyone else and that’s why she really couldn’t tell his true feelings.

Throughout the story, Joy realizes that she may have been in her own way. She couldn’t see the forest for the trees - Id say. Her focus shifted, and eventually she came to realize that what she needed was more important than what she wanted.

For years she settled for something that she was familiar with because it felt safe. Funny how taking a risk, even when you’re unsure, could possibly change your outlook.
