The Sinner's Sanctuary by August Jones

5.0

Christian • Gibson…(!!!)

“The keeper of my secrets, the owner of my heart.”

….

Dearly Beloved, I have to confess. August has broken the mold once again. This right here is what I want when I pick up a book. A book that is so layered and an author that isn’t afraid to venture out of the box, giving us what it should be all about. It’s been a week since I finished reading this book and goosebumps erupt on my skin just thinking about my experience with Christian and Gibson. Because it was an experience. The maturity leave was so damn sexy. The communication is down bad lethal. The title of the book has the word  “sanctuary” in it and in all forms this story became my own personal sanctuary that I know I will come back to when needing a safe space.

We have two very independent individuals on the outside but deep at the core very vulnerable ones inside. We get a beautiful story about healing. Desires and needs that progress so beautifully and naturally so as we travel along the characters. And when we encounter it all we all take a calm breath.

If you follow my reviews you know August is an author I would go alongside blindly. I will pick up anything she decides to write. No questions asked. All my needs were met, I came out pampered and cared for. The pace is outstanding, no rushing, no dragging out, the writing is immaculate. You know the feeling while reading you are so aware that an author loved writing a story? This is that book. Infinite/10.

“What do you know for sure you do believe in?” - “Sin.” // “When he smiles, though, it blinds.” // “It’s a strength I want to rest on.” // “And I remember wanting to ask them what about me? What’s God’s plan for me?” // “Sacrifice.” // “I probably should have gone the rest of my life not seeing that.” // “I wish I knew enough to appreciate the place I’m in.” // “That’s how it works, beautiful boy.” // “The way he relented and let me hold him, and the kiss he sought and sought until I came undone.” // “Thank you for tonight. It felt—important.” // “…the thought of allowing myself to be physically overpowered by this man I find more beautiful by the hour.” // “I couldn’t wait.” // “I can’t name a time when I’ve felt vital to someone.” // “Are you praying yet, pretty boy?” // “Does he realize he already knows me better?” // “What if I don’t?” // “I want my heart on the line.” // “I may never be able to thank him enough.” …
