The Fiction Between Us is the second in the soon-to-be-four book of the Honeywood Fun Park series. When Quinn, the Queen Bee of Honeywood, and Landon, the returned head of security, end up performing a show together for the season, it looks like old sparks may fly.
I couldn’t stop reading this book. I read it in about 24 hours, which I have not done in a while. It was a great feeling to have a book grab me in that way. Everything about the book pulled me in, from the characters, the tropes, and the hope for a happy ending at a theme park.
Quinn is incredibly relatable. She’s someone that is at a crossroads in life, one that has been forced on her by outside factors, and it’s troublesome. She is comfortable with where she is, recognizing she wants more but that previous life choices have put a barrier in her path. I think that’s something we can all relate to.
Landon is the epitome of the guy who compares everyone to his first love. Like Quinn, he also is at a crossroads as he moves back to his hometown, hoping to save money to go to culinary school and follow his true passions.
What makes this book great is they help each other realize what to do in the face of the crossroads. While both are pining for the other from afar as they find their friendship again, they encourage the other to follow their passions, even if it seems difficult. I’m a sucker for mutual pining but also for encouraging someone to be true to themselves, and that came together nicely here.
We also got some bits of Lorelei and Emory from All Downhill With You, which made me happy. And, seeing Ruby the way she was in this book makes me all the more excited for the upcoming Their Freefall At Last.
Moderate: Sexual harassment
Minor: Bullying
