Fruits of the Earth by André Gide

5.0

Reading this book was like meeting a friend who you vibe with so much. The prose and the verses were breathtaking, relevant, and conscious. But just like the best of friends, there were moments when Gide became slightly off. All of a sudden, he became religious. Not spiritual but religious. His faith was obscure and it felt like he was keeping some things to himself. The accessible friend became a stranger. Passionate but vague. Like, what happened, dude? Despite that, this book deserves more than 5 stars. After all, he was only religious for around 10 pages. The rest is very very delicious.
