Why We Can't Sleep: Women's New Midlife Crisis by Ada Calhoun

I related to a lot of the repetitive information or I should say stated repetitive information but it became depressing and only at the very end did it start to peak up.

I am a 50yr old recently separated working mom of 6, who is still going through peri-menapause. I get it, but even though I still have kids at home (Oldest is 30 youngest is 12) I feel the most at peace and enjoying life and new prospects. Turning 50 liberated me... or I should say realizing that I was turning 50 and time is ticking made me evaluate who I wanted in my life and what I wanted. Life is precious don't waste it on things and people who don't matter. The book came across kind of depressing for women getting older.... where I feel for the first time ever women my age can spread their wings at this new stage of life and fly. We are tough, we have juggled kids and work and needy unhelping men and still see more in life, still learn and discover. It's a beautiful thing.... and don't listen at the end when author mentions about not going to Pilates it's ok.... eating healthy and moving your body and staying fit is the KEY to living a quality life as you age way more than any other time. Get up, eat food like it is medicine and MOVE. Don't do it because you want to lose weight do it because you want to move and be in health at 70.... 80.... I am in better shape than I was in my 30s and 40s (probably my 20s if I am honest) and although I am not a size 0 I can do way more than I ever thought when I was younger.... and I feel GOOD. Eat healthy and workout. YOu deserve it. It is not a punishment and conforming to what society says you have to be, it is an investment in yourself and your future senior self.
