Alexandra Bracken dedicates this duology to those who history as forgotten - and she did them justice! The diversity in this novel was excellent. I always love historical fiction with a diverse cast of characters. Speaking of which, the characters - I adored them. Sophia was an easy favorite.

The pacing was slow at time, but frankly, I didn't mind much. Bracken writes every sentence so beautifully that I didn't mind the slow pace.
