Maomao was able to go outside the inner palace to visit family for a few days, so we’re able to get a brief glance of her life in the pleasure district. The madam of the brothel where Maomao used to be around was really scary, but what I am really curious about is the identity of her father. I’d reckon he’s keeping a big secret from Maomao, but I hope it’s not a bad one.

And of course, Maomao solved another mystery, this time at a brothel and with little hints given by her father. It was really interesting learning how she can perceive even the tiniest details; I truly enjoy how her mind works.

But best of all in this volume is probably Jinshi obviously being jealous that Maomao asked another man’s help to return home. Him sulking and misunderstanding what Maomao had done to visit home was too funny. I guess his affection for her is growing bigger <3
