Lights Out by Navessa Allen

One of the most cringeworthy cliche Gen Z dark romances to ever cliche dark romance ever in life. I remember reading the back of this book months ago before I ever even saw it was popular on TikTok and cringing at just the synopsis and thinking to myself that I’d never read it cause I could just tell. That apparently all changed when I found out the VA for Josh (really… Josh????) was so babygirl. I am a simple woman. But a simple woman with taste and standards.
There were moments that I genuinely enjoyed and laughed at but for the majority of the time I was either cringing or rolling my eyes at the amount of current slang being used and for that I just can’t find it within me to rate it any higher. If Jacob Morgan hadn’t obviously put his whole chest into voicing this character I would have immediately dnf’d the book. I know that if I had even attempted to just read the book on my own I wouldn’t have been able to glean even a fleck of the enjoyment I got from listening to the audiobook.
