We Are Okay by Nina LaCour
5.0
absolutely incredible. LaCour is one of my favorite writers because each page packs a powerful, emotional punch. each page turn is a sigh, every word is spoken to you as if she was right there in front of you, and it grabs your attention at once each time you pick it back up. this short novel held me, validated the loneliness i’ve felt time and time again, and examines depression and anxiety - that may be part of the reason why it took me so long to finish. this book, though only just over 200 pages, is heavy and meaningful. the heart and love LaCour put into this - like many of her other works - makes you want to feel what she feels. its hard to read but forces you to push on. i only hope my library forgives me for it being so overdue (though i may have to buy my own copy soon).
