Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
5.0
It's been YEARS since I read the Harry Potter series, and maybe weeks since I last watched the films for the hundredth time... and I've finally reached the point in my adulthood when I've started to forget some of the details and background that was left out of the movies. So I decided it was time for a series reread, and I finally dove in.
And yup, this is as cozy and ~~enchanting~~ as I remember. It's really amazing how much plot J.K. Rowling stuffed into book 1, and though of course it reads as YA, you can just feel the magic that awaits you in the future of the series. Enough wizard references yet?
And though I loved the comfort of this first book, I'm really most excited to work up to the longer and more meaty books later in the series. But when it comes to building an exciting new world (hidden right under our Muggle noses so it feels SO possible), crafting lovable (and hate-able) characters, and setting the stage for a lifetime of wonder, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a near-perfect work.
