And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

3.0

Hmm, my first Agatha Christie and I'm disappointed to say the least. It started of well with introductions about the 10, to be soon dead characters. But it didn't even set the atmosphere or built up the characters. I guess you don't need to love a certain character in thrillers, but these were flat! They were all just there with their crimes labelled.

Each one of them kept dying due to various reasons. After a point, I just wanted them all dead so I could know who the murderer was. It was a nice touch to see them come to the conclusion that it was one of them. To see them try to be careful and always be on the lookout.
SpoilerThings sped up after Roger's death, they started dying too fast too soon until it came to Lombard and Claythorne.
I did not understand how this could happen since both of them stayed together, so who's the killer? I had my hopes on a 11th person somehow managing to hide so well. Then both of them went out and I was left dejected.

I was thinking, will the police piece this out? I read the portion and was even more vexed that nothing useful came out of it.
SpoilerExcept the fact that the Seton case was valid and hence Wargrave was innocent. But the final reveal felt like a cop out. It seemed made up at the last moment. There's no way you could guess Wargrave was the murderer. It could have been Vera, or Phillip even. Anyone could have got into the good books of Armstrong and acted out their death.
It's so stupid, didn't satisfy me at all. Wonder why it's so hyped up?
