The Fall Out by Jenni Bara
5.0
Sweet, swoony & spicy are the perfect words to describe this book.
Avery, the daughter of the coach for the Boston Revs baseball team, is out for a night to get over a bad breakup. While at a bar she has an instant connection, and a one night stand, with Christian. She runs out on him the next morning when she finds out he is the new grumpy, hothead pitcher for the Boston Revs and very off-limits. After that night, she swears off dating for a year to find herself and is determined to avoid seeing Christian again. Everything is going well until a chance accident on the baseball diamond when a puffin is injured at a Revs game she is attending, and her expertise as an aviary veterinarian is required to help the injured bird. With Avery on a dating hiatus, the two become friends.
I loved the chemistry between Avery and Christian. The friendship that blooms between them is so sweet and heartwarming. You can't help but root for them with all the kind and caring things he does for her. All the pining and tension make for the perfect slow-burn romance. Avery's sunshine demeanor is the perfect contrast to a very grumpy but sweet for her Christian.
The side characters were so fun. From Christian's hilarious roommate to Avery's wild friends and the adorable puffin they basically adopt, I truly loved everything about this book.
Thank you, Jenni and The Author Agency for the ARC copy of The Fall Out. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
