The Travelling Vampire Show by Richard Laymon

5.0

This I know is one of Laymon's books that a lot of people who like his stuff say is one of his best. And, I think I agree so far... I mean, it has it's prblems, as does all his books, but it is still a fun ride and why I've grown to love his works.
The first 3/4 of the book has pretty much nothing to do with the Vampire Show and doesn't even reall yfeel too much like a typical Laymon story. Sure, it has the horny teenage boys and the randomness thrown in here and there. However, its more of a coming of age teenage story of a group of friends and how they spend their summers.
However, the final 1/4 then goes straight into Laymon overdrive when they actually get to the show! And, let me tell you, it's up there with the craziness, lol... The way all the characters manage to lose their clothes had me laughing. Also, the body count is pretty high in this one too.
The final 'vampire' reveal is a nice little twist too, but I won't ruin the suprise.
Anyway, a must read if you enjoy his style of books and an easy 4 - 4.5 read for me!
