Unwritten Rules by KD Casey

4.0

4.3 Stars.

KD Casey wrote one of the most unnervingly accurate gay sports romances I’ve read. There’s a lot of angst and a less direct path to “coming out”, but it made it feel more realistic for two queer players hiding in America’s (extremely straight and antiquated) favorite pastime. If you’re going for a fluffy sports romance, this isn’t your book.

The angst was rough at times, and I was surprised where the story ended, but it made the story feel more realistic.

My partner played baseball growing up, and we had a fun time chuckling at the parody MLB team names. Between the book and asking them questions about all the baseball terms I didn’t know, it was a rather educational time.

Lovely book, excited to start the next one.

Spice: 2.5 out of 5 (honestly expected more, but I loved what scenes there were, especially the occasional D/s play)
