Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

4.0

Wow! Such a good book, I love the development of Cassandra Clare's writing and the Dark Artifices is becoming my second favorite. Having read the beginning of the book set in Los Angeles two months ago I cannot remember much details however Cassandra has a great technique of writing invigorating fight scenes. I loved the relationships and friendships throughout the entire novel and there is a great diversity in Shadowhunters, Faeries and Downworlders which is great to see. The politics and the cohort are infuriating to me as I care so much for this world. In the second half of the book I loved the London setting!

There was a great line where Drusilla was asking for a plate of scones for Jaime hidden up in her room and Bridget laughed remembering a time before. I can't remember the exact names but that was a reference to the Lightwoods and the maid during the Infernal Devices and how (Gideon?) would ask for plates of scones so that he could see the maid and would later hide them under his bed. This book brought back so many great memories of me reading my favorite series - The Infernal Devices.

The relationship between Julian and Emma is developing rapidly, along with their knowledge of what could happen to them. A great point of this book is when it constantly flicks back and forth to different characters in different parts of the world. It flows naturally without being confusing, which is wonderful to read about.

The end of the book destroyed me and I have no idea what's going to happen next. The climax we were building up for and their plan that would get the Black Volume and help Emma and Julian is all over. QOAND better tie up these loose ends and I am very excited to see the relationships develop, the Cohort become more powerful and the future for the faeries.
