The Borrow a Boyfriend Club by Page Powars

It took me a minute to get into this book. It does not feel realistic at all. After I took some time and decided that it was fiction and it was ok for this book to be very far-fetched, it was a lot more fun to read.
As a trans person who tried to be incredibly masculine for a while, this book did hit close to home. I though Noah was a very relatable character, and I appreciated that Asher evolved through the story. Meaning, we realize why he comes off as a jerk by the end of the book. I really liked all the side characters too! I'm glad we got little interactions with most of them.
My reasoning for putting this book so low on the list was Noah didn't grow as much as I would've expected. I think he realized that being a boy doesn't mean being stereotypically masculine. That's a great lesson! But with his old friends? There was nowhere near enough growth. They just forgive him for not giving them a chance, without him apologizing or even him realizing that was not a nice thing to do. I understand needing distance, especially with something that difficult, but there should've been more to rebuilding the relationship or just cut that part of the story out. I was really disappointed by it.
However, the book was still good! It was a fun read about a boy who happens to be trans learning that he can be himself and still be a boy, while even getting to fall in love!
