Creepy, eerie and unsettling yet with a beautiful message at its heart. It’s never too late to connect and rediscover your heritage.

I loved the 1st chapter it set the tone from the outset so even at the fun, lighthearted moments, you were still on edge not knowing what’s about to happen.
There is an amazing array of side characters that I loved including Foster & Frank. They are just so endearing.
Of course I loved Avery, our main character, she’s also very funny and likeable but what I enjoyed most was the portrayal of her anxiety and the inner conflict she faces, not only with the usual day to day struggles teenagers face, but also how she doesn’t feel connected to her Mohawk heritage.

I also loved ~
*The folk legend & tales
*The ominous message we hear from the townsfolk/elders ““Never leave the trail!” really adds to that eerie feeling.
*Avery & her list of Top Ten Things I Love but Will Never Tell. Wish we had the whole list. (I’m sure I didn’t miss any!?!

Brilliantly written, great pacing and fantastic descriptions that easily allowed you to conjure up exactly what Avery was seeing.

Thank you HarperYA360, for the amazing proof copy. A fantastic YA folk horror. Definitely perfect for spooky season.
