“Be wary, be clever, be good”

•The way these books have a chokehold on me even days after reading them, I miss these characters & the world so much! I don’t know how Gillig did it but she managed to write a sequel that’s even better than the first book! And her writing is so beautiful, the poetry and rhyming throughout is so fun to read

•The setting & atmosphere is very dark, very gothic - it gave me Sleepy Hollow vibes. Absolute perfection for this time of year!

•The magic system is so unique - it’s wielded using providence cards, which are essentially different cards that give the person using them different abilities, but magic always come with a price and that is discovered more and more throughout the books

•The character development and relationships between the characters was so well done! The second book gives you multiple POV’s helping you to go on different journeys with each character
