For a YA Debut, its pretty good.
The magic of the hotel and the people within the hotel are fascinating and interesting. Main character Jani is very YA-main character-y at times with her stubbornness and recklessness but honestly, thats just how teenagers are so I'll give her a pass. The romance is just fine given the situation and again, teenager-y-nesss of it all, but the love interest was a bit more broody than I'd prefer.
Overall, the story is immersive and fun to read while being simplistic enough to read in 1 sitting. The end gets a little rushed and I was disappointed that the plot was fixed by a character that barely existed throughout the book. I know Jani helped, but it didn't feel quite as satisfying as I hoped. . But yeah, honestly, perfectly fine. Nothing too stand out, but nothing bad either. I'd like to see what Taylor will write next, there is good potential.
