Someone Like Us: A novel by Dinaw Mengestu
5.0
I liked the experience of reading this book. It meanders as it tells the stories of the Ethiopian diaspora. One of the central characters drives a taxi and a lot of the motion is built into this vehicle (haha couldn’t resist the pun). There’s a lot of sadness and regret and the narrator isn’t exactly reliable yet the human emotions strike a deep chord around expectations and American Dreams.
