Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney
2.0
Not engaging and vaguely incoherent
This book was just too much. Once everything kind of gets revealed it just didn't make sense and I just gave up.
Full review: So this was so slow and nonsensical after a while that when the twist came I said, oh freaking com one. The ending was just a limp finish and I am still mad that this got any type of hype.
The good: The island setting and the homage to "And Then There Were None".
The bad: Everything else. Daisy as a narrative voice was not great and she does a tons of things in this book that makes her an unsympathetic character. And then when we figure out what it is all about I was like seriously? This is the solution? I just booed the whole thing. Do not waste your time on middling characters but no motivation outside of money. The whole thing hangs together poorly when the pieces are put together.
