I don’t need Mary Oliver’s popularity to tell me this is good poetry. I don’t read poetry often or particularly enjoy it, but I appreciate the prose and insight in “Devotions”. Oliver’s focus on nature while soothing isn’t to my personal taste and is part of why I avoid poetry, but overall I know this collection is well done.
