Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas
4.0
our beloved isabel cañas, author of THE HACIENDA does it again in VAMPIRES OF EL NORTE combining romance, horror, and historical fiction.
this eerie and atmospheric novel had me swooning from the very beginning. cañas had me captivated from all angles of this tale. what was going to happen with the anglos? how are they going to stop the vampires? are nena and néstor going to make it?
the writing is descriptive and atmospheric and i wish i could explain how it felt to read it. i wanted to say warm and comforting, but honey we are literally at war with humans and vampires rn so i don't think thats the correct wording.
i was worried i wouldn't like this one (second book syndrome iykyk) but i actually ended up liking it even MORE than the hacienda.
a few things i didn't love:
-sometimes the dialogue between our MCs was a little cringe
-the ending felt abrupt; all of my questions got answered but literally in the blink of an eye
4.25⭐️
