I am currently reintroducing myself to Austen after 15 or so years since I first read, and have to say, Persuasion has snuck up on me as equal to Austen’s more favoured works (Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility). The story resonates very differently now that I’m older — a really beautiful story about the depth of love, respect and understanding that comes with maturity, and of course, who doesn’t love a second chance romance? (Now we just need a film adaptation that truly does the story justice!)
