The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews

5.0

This book was so cute. Please don’t judge me for reading it in March. It was so sweet and just what I needed in a small town romance novel. An escape, and an easy read.

The only thing that irritated me, ever so slightly is…. Spoilers ahead!!!

Ivy wants so so badly to find the person that wrote the note she found in the suit pocket, and has basically made it her lives mission to figure it out, but for weeks and weeks refuses to continue the tradition of the house and family that has captured the ENTIRE town’s hearts with their Christmas Spirit. Every time she’s asked if she’ll put up the Christmas lights and tree, she says no, and comes up with an excuse. Even after she is told how special it was to the town she refused. It is, much, later revealed that it’s the painful reminder of her mom passing and ex husband that made her weary, but I feel like that could have been explained earlier.

I feel like this would not have been as noticeable if I had read it vs listening to it, like I did, so please don’t let this stop you from reading this book.

Other than that one thing, I really loved this book!! Will be adding it to my TBR list for Christmas time because it’s just one of those feel good books that you can read in one or two nights sitting by the fire. I really loved how emotional the book was and the twist I was SHOCKED by. My jaw was on the floor. I like how this book followed the typical Christmas time, small town romance, but has that emotional plot that keeps you reading more. Some holiday Christmas small town romance books are missing that.
