It got confusing towards the end with all the different locations and I think there were some minor characters that could be eliminated.
I really enjoyed this book, the author provides a wonderful sense of place—Iowa in the winter. There’s a serial killer roaming loose in Des Moines and there’s also been a threat on the new governor’s life (first woman governor of Iowa). FBI agent Riley has been ordered by her boss to guard the governor and the governor’s family.
Riley is center stage and you can feel how she’s slowly allowing herself to feel lots of complicated emotions. Strongly suggest reading the first book in the series because that will help you understand Riley.
