Captive Prince: Volume Two by C.S. Pacat

5.0

Now that I have wiped the tears from my eyes and can form a proper sentence, let me just let everybody now that I AM A BROKEN WOMAN.

This book had me from line one, all the way to the end. I cried, I laughed (particularly with Laurent when he couldn't stop giggling on the rooftop), I screamed, I blushed. This was a rollercoaster and my god I wanted to be on it.

It's so refreshing and healthy and magnificent to have a relationship written between two characters like Laurent and Damon, and it's something that is completely lacking in a lot of fiction today, which sucks. Not even just the fact that they are two men, which adds a whole other beautifully progressive aspect to it. It's the fact that they AREN'T basing their relationship off the fact that they are two dudes, which you rarely get in a novel that involves any LGBTQ characters and are instead focused on each other, the way they slowly but surely fell in love. They are not defined by whom they choose to sleep with/love and lord almighty bless this book.

And let me just say, that scene where they made love, my heart was simultaneously breaking and cheering. There is such a way with words throughout both novels that captures the reader. I am so so so so happy that I chose to read these books. I am in dire need for the third one, especially after that ending.
