Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo

3.0

So I finished it. I didn't think it will be possible, but it happened. I will definitely say, I had way better time with this last book than with the previous one. Why? It seemed like the story itself closed very nicely. I wasn't expecting much, and the author gave me closure, brought the whole picture of the characters together, and she did it in not super dramatic but gentle, kind of predictable way. The way, that was still interesting. I think that each character got the best ending for themselves, but I wish I saw some more discussion about Mal's behavior from the previous part. It would be nice to see the redemption of the male, main character and discussion about how men can claim ownership of a woman. There was a little to no reflection on his part, and he just suddenly changed, which of course is a good thing, but I am missing this thought process he could've had. Maybe there is somewhere in a future a story to be published from his point of view. Wink, wink Twilight Saga. This is definitely not a series of the year. I still have in memory more of a Cruel Price than anything, but I am happy I could imagine how the future of the TV show could look like. And for that reason, I will for sure try out the Six of Crows duology.
