The Jewel of the Blues is a coming of age story about a young girls journey to make it in the 1920s jazz era. That was one of my favorite parts was the vivid descriptions of the settings, clothes and everything else that had to do with that time period. The characters are well developed and there are a few characters that I really became invested in. The story does get a little wordy but other than that it was an interesting read.
