The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows, Mary Ann Shaffer
5.0
There are no words to fully capture how much I love this story. I love all the characters (except one- if you've read you know who). It has great Jane Austen vibes while also being real about the horrors of WWII on the island of Guernsey. This book was the inspiration for one of my coding projects so it's left an impact.
I also adore the romance and shout out to Shaffer for making her character older than typical romance heroines are. They aged her down in the movie (they changed a lot of things in the movie, but I still love it). Fantastic book about the power of community and caring for one another. And the proposal scene is in my Top 3 Favorites for me.
