The Sleep Experiment by Jeremy Bates

Did not finish book. Stopped at 9%.
Oof, The Racism.

I don't mean it as a character trait. The writing itself is racist. Not even as a character trait, but from the writing. Penny Park (not to be confused with Peni Parker) is a Korean student assistant of the main character:
With almond eyes, high cheekbones, a prominent jawline, and straight and glossy black hair, she was beautiful in a classical Asian sense. Her brown eyes sparkled when they met his. She smiled, her cheeks dimpling.

He nodded. “I like your hair. I don’t think you’ve worn it like that before?”

“Because when I pull it back from my face like this it makes my head look too big. Many Koreans have too large heads, did you know that?”

“No, I didn’t.”

“Anyway, in Korean society, a single braid means a single lady.” She held up her left hand and wiggled her ring finger. “And I’m single! Thought I’d try a braid for luck.”

I thought this was the protagonist's own character flaw. It is not. Early on, a perspective switch is made to Penny, revealing that she has a fetish for older men due to her daddy issues, citing Sigmund Freud as an explanation. Since she was young, she's been leading boys/men on, instigated a sexual relationship with a married high school teacher at 18, and now that she's in America, she wants to be with the Hot and Sexy and Smart main character.

The other assistant is a "nerdy" Indian kid named Guru Rampal. So, let's add "Smart Asian Assistants" to the list too.
