I have mixed emotions about this book. I was drawn to the main character, Harry Hole, and I really liked the author's writing style. It's very descriptive, and it often reads like a movie plot. For example, in one part there's a phone conversation where the reader only "hears" Harry's side of the conversation.

However, I didn't care for the plot that much...it wasn't that interesting to me. It was a revenge plot that went back and forth between present day (well, the year 2000, really), and the early 40's during WWII. All that back and forth required a lot of concentration. It took me a while to get through this book, because every time I put it down and picked it back up, I had to flip back several pages (or even chapters) to remind myself what was going on.

I understand that Harry appears in some of Mr. Nesbø's other stories, so I do look forward to trying the next in the series. Hopefully the plot will be a little more captivating.
