The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

5.0

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was beautiful, heartbreaking, and hopeful, all at the same time.

Told in verse by Xiomara, The Poet X tells the story of a young Dominican girl who has so much to say, but who feels like no one is listening. The progression of the story, the development of many of the characters, and the writing style were all perfection.

It is a quick read, but that doesn't take away from its emotional impact.

I highly recommend this book. The poetry, the story, the heartbreak. I loved it all.

P.S. Pages 300-313 destroyed me.
